Helen Hayes Award-winning actress, Deidra LaWan Starnes, is excited about her starring role as “Patty” in the new feature length motion picture Nocturnal Agony. Prior to that she was most recently seen in the Black Rep’s Gem of the Ocean and as Mame in Radio Golf, directed by Ron Himes at Studio Theatre. Her additional stage credits include Lysistrata - Synetic Theatre and Georgetown University Co-Production; King Lear—Folger Shakespeare Theatre; Intimate Apparel (for which she received the Helen Hayes Award for Most Outstanding Lead Actress in a Resident Play), A Raisin in the Sun, The Gingham Dog, I Have before Me a Remarkable Document…, Two Trains Running, Personal History, Spunk—African Continuum Theatre; The Violet Hour, Anna Lucasta—Rep Stage; Blues for an Alabama Sky—Everyman Theatre; The Old Settler, Seven Guitars—Studio Theatre; The Old Settler—Portland Center Stage; The Taming of the Shrew—Cumberland Theatre; Hurly Burly—Woolly Mammoth; A Raisin in the Sun; Doubt, Stuff Happens—Olney Theatre Center; for colored girls who have considered suicide…—New Federal Theatre.
